Hands-On Social Studies

Learning About Map Scales
Students had the opportunity to practice using their map scale skills on giant maps this week to reinforce the skill and prepare for the test at the end of the week. Working in groups, they created the ruler for their maps, located new places on maps and recorded the distance between the places.

Getting Back to the Routine

This was our first full week back to school.
Congratulations to these students for being the first to earn fact practice certificates.

With the weather still being so nice, we were able to read outside during workshop time.

Finally had the opportunity to open up some of the DonorsChoose.org flexible seating options. Will work on setting up some of the other fabulous things from Donors Choose soon. We started to unpack the boxes to check it all out. I am getting ready to write up another project. I bought myself a gift card as motivation to post a new project.

If you have any ideas , shoot me an email.
Click on the link above to see what its all about.
Thank you to those of you who donated this summer to get some of these things in our class in September!

A New School Year!

Here's a quick sneak peek into our classroom. We start off the year trying to build a community of learners by engaging in some fun activities to set the tone for the year. Ask your child about some of the things we did including our little snowball fight. (Sorry those pictures didn't come out so good.)
Also, check out the rest of the blog.
